Rotary Club of Scottsdale North was visited guest speakers, Tom & Marlene Kaye, siblings and co-founders of Hopi Relief and members of the Coyote Clan within the Hopi Nation. Tom spoke to our club about the impact that COVID-19 has had on the Hopi Tribal Communities of Northern Arizona.

During 2020 Tom and Marlene saw a growing need, when resources were hard to find in the valley, they were even harder to find within the Hopi Communities. On May 6 of 2020, they pack a U-Haul truck full of necessities and traveled several hours north to distribute the supplies. With quick work, Hopi Relief was a registered Non-profit by August 21, 2020. Hopi Relief's team worked with other foodbanks of the valley to learn how to efficiently portion, pack, and transport resources. With the assistance of the Cares Act, Hopi Relief has distributed over 45,000 boxes, many full of non-perishables and hygiene products. Hopi Relief's mission does not stop with resource boxes. They have goals to improve community infrastructure by providing clean running water, reliable electricity and strong roofs to any Hopi in need. Rotary Club of Scottsdale North is happy to support Hopi Relief's mission to improve the lives of the Hopi Community.
