During our previous club meeting, we had special guests, Jill & Michael from Hunkapi(hoon-kah-pee). Hunkapi is a non-profit that provides animal therapy to a variety of patients. The word Hunkapi is a Lakota Native American term meaning "I am related to everyone", which is represented in their work to rely and connect with one another throughout the therapy process.

Out of all forms of animal therapy, Equine Therapy, has been shown as one of the most effective methods. Hunkapi has many Therapists, 25 horses, 2 pigs, goats, cows, turkeys, chickens and cats. All helping 300 clients each week. Most recently, Hunkapi opened a new luxury dog resort for the animal companions of homeless individuals working to change their lives. There are currently 6 dogs being cared for all hours of the day for up to 12 weeks. Rotary Club of Scottsdale North has been honored to make a donation to Hunkapi in honor of late Rotarian and animal lover, Rhody Esmay. In honor of Rhody, Hunkapi has dedicated a stall in their new luxury dog resort. We are so happy to support the work of Hunkapi and continue to provide support to the community in Rhody's name.

Hunkapi is working to purchase their own farm!
